What to Eat at Phoenix Christkindlmarkt
Christmas is a time to celebrate with family and good food, and the Phoenix Christkindlmarkt is no exception.
As you enter the Phoenix Christkindlmarkt, saunter over to the potato pancakes and applesauce – a true Christmas market classic beloved in Europe!
Of course, the deliciousness doesn’t end there. As you stroll through the holiday market, a bit of Bratwurst and sauerkraut will keep you in the holiday spirit.
And, after a full day of shopping, a bowl of Gulasch – hot stew, and a glass of Glühwein will be sure to warm the heart (and belly!)
PS: For those with a sweet tooth, it’s worth noting we could never leave without a piece of apple strudel and a few pounds of delicious old-world chocolates and “Lebcake” (gingerbread-style cookies) as gifts and stocking-stuffers.
… But, truth be told, the gingerbread cookies never made it home!
What to Buy at Phoenix Christkindlmarkt
Germany’s famous Christmas markets are best known for their shopping, and on that front, the Phoenix Christkindlmarkt certainly does not disappoint!
This 13-year-old holiday market brings the magic and splendor of Central and Northern European holiday shopping to Central Arizona, with gorgeous displays of the season filling the marketplace.
Holiday lights set the background and seasonal music fills the air as vendors offer their handmade items, from traditional German ornaments and candles to beautiful decorative wreaths.
This market in Phoenix is truly one of my favorite markets, and is where we picked up our first knitted ornament for the Christmas tree!
